 Irvin David Klein
November 24, 1946 - May 6, 2021

It is with deep sorrow, and much love, that we mourn the passing of our dear Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend, Irvin David Klein, 74, of Eatonia, Saskatchewan, who passed away on May 6, 2021. He passed away in Kindersley Regional Hospital due to chronic health conditions.

Irvin was born in Eatonia, SK to Tobias and Emilie Klein. He grew up with his siblings Anne, Helmut, Alma, Alfred, Hilda, and Ella. As a teen, he loved spending his time on his family farm, and as he got older, this sparked his passion for farming.

In his late 20`s he met his former wife Betty-Lou of Eatonia SK. In Sept 1980 they had started a family, complete with Kimberley (Brad Francis) Faulds of Kindersley SK, and Miranda (Marvin) Sunderland of Cluny, AB. As a family they loved camping, fishing, bowling, and the outdoors. Irvin loved family gatherings and was always up for a game of cards. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Irvin and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.

In addition to his former partner Betty- Lou, daughters Kimberley & Brad (Eliana-Mai & Owen), Miranda & Marvin (Oliver and Nathan), Irvin is survived by his Sister Ella (Harold) Martin of Lethbridge, SK, and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded by his parents Tobias and Emilie Klein, siblings Anne (Alfred) Kelm, Helmut (Agnes) Klein, Alfred Klein, Alma (Hilmer) Elsasser, and Hilda (David) Youck.

Due to the circumstances, a private service was held with Pastor Lynne Resch officiating. In Lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis of Canada.

Noreen Carol (Punter) Nagel
September 30, 1946 - January 15, 2021

Noreen Carol (Punter) was born to Les and Effie Punter on Sept 30, 1946 in Eatonia, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of two children, Dennis being her older brother. They were raised in the Mantario area and attended school in both Mantario and Eatonia. Following graduation in 1965, Noreen married Erwin Chris Nagel.

Chris and Noreen lived and farmed south of Eatonia. In 1975, their daughter Laurie Dawn was born. Noreen stayed home to raise their daughter and was a big part of the farm running for parts, moving equipment and making sure no one went hungry. She was an accomplished seamstress, baker and avid gardener, she definitely had a green thumb. Noreen’s faith played a large role in her life, and she was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eatonia for all of her married life. She taught Sunday School, was an active member of ELW and sang in the church choir. Chris and Noreen both loved to camp, fish and travel. In retirement, they were finally able to take a tour to Nashville, a trip they had both wanted to take for years.

In 2009, Chris passed away and Noreen found herself wanting to live in town. She purchased a home, and settled into life as an Eatonia resident. She enjoyed the down sized yard, and the chance to walk to the neighbors rather than drive. This move also made it possible for Noreen to live out a dream of visiting England and France and reconnect with some distant family.

Failing health prompted another move closer to more medical facilities and another group of wonderful people. Noreen settled into Caleb Place in Kindersley, and quickly adjusted to an easier life. She loved the residents, staff, food, activities and amenities that Caleb offered. Unfortunately, life threw her one more curveball and another move took her to Pioneer House in Lloydminster. It meant leaving her beloved friends and neighbors but moved her a lot closer to Laurie, Darren and her 3 grandchildren, Jenna, Cash and Carson. The grandchildren always brought a huge smile to Noreen’s face, and she continued to feed them candy and licorice at every chance as well as follow them around watching their numerous and various sports. The move also opened up opportunity to partake in some activities that she had not had easy access to in the past. She attended many music concerts, dinner theaters, jamborees and loved getting out to Laurie’s place, which was so much closer. She made a great circle of friends, and was loved dearly by all of the staff at Pioneer House.

On January 15, 2021, Noreen peacefully passed away at her home in Lloydminster, Alberta. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Darren) Bowman, her 3 grandchildren: Jenna, Cash and Carson Bowman, her brother Dennis (Linda) Punter and her sister-in-law Elvira Nagel. She had many wonderful nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Erwin “Chris” Nagel, her parents Les and Effie Punter, father-in-law Christian Nagel, mother-in-law Katherina Nagel, brothers-in-laws Carl Nagel, John Nagel, Edwin Nagel and Otto Wormsbecker, sisters-in-law Gertrude Nagel, Kathy Nagel and Victoria Wormsbecker.

"Rest easy, Mom. Your journey was full of love and you will be dearly missed."

Due to COVID Restrictions there will be a Private Graveside Service held for Noreen at this time. Donations in Noreen's name may be made to Eatonia Oasis Living, Box 217, Eatonia, SK S0L 0Y0.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Today we end the year 2020. I wish you blessings in 2021. As I reflect on this past year, I pray for wisdom and understanding. Time and again, I have heard our nations crying out for justice, fairness, peace, action, and security, more so this year than any. Many have prayed for God to stop Covid-19,and heal our world. We experienced extreme forest fires, racism riots, and worldwide disease, with lockdowns driving us into a deeper fear, confusion, and poverty. Has this been a year where God is trying to get our attention? Is He trying to call us back to Him? To repent? Has this year been the result of a conspiracy?

Perhaps.

I do not know for sure, but what I do know are God’s own words in Matthew 24, particularly in verses 6-8: And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

What I do know for sure is that God has a plan. Sometimes, for His plans to be fulfilled, we need to experience an unpleasant journey to reach His glory. Is God not glorified through the cross? Was the journey to the cross something Mary and the disciples found unpleasant watching the one they loved suffer, and die in front of them? Was there not great glory after?

We will go from Matthew 24 to Revelation 21, and like many of the Saints that have walked before us, the journey will not always be pleasant, but it is a part of God’s plan. Rev. 21: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also, he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty, I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God, and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

My prayer for 2021 is for God’s plan to continue to unfold; however that journey may look. My prayer for you and I is strength to endure the journey accompanied by a stronger faith and trust in Him, His plan, and His faithfulness. I pray for wisdom throughout the year, a peaceful heart, and to remain focused on God at all times.

God does not promise a comfortable journey, but He does promise a successful one if we stick close to Him and trust Him.

So may 2021 hold to God’s plan for us and the world, and may we hold close to God because in the end, He will be glorified, and we will be a part of the celebration. Do not lose focus or hope but rejoice and trust in Jesus each day. I love you, dearly, and praise God that I do not walk alone. May you be blessed beyond what you imagined for 2021.

GRANT SPECHT
August 4 1951 - August 5 2020

Grant Wayne Specht, aged 69, of Eatonia, SK, passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2020, after a long struggle with lung cancer. Grant passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Grant was born in 1951 in Eatonia, SK, to his father Jacob Specht and his mother Emelia (Martin) Specht. He graduated from Eatonia School and later attended the University of Saskatchewan where he studied anthropology.

Grant lived in Calgary, AB, for several years where he worked as a car salesman. While he would soon return to Eatonia to work on the family farm, his time as a salesman would initiate a life-long love of haggling the price down to the last cent. Whether he was up against a local car salesman, a gritty hail adjuster, or a RCMP member during a traffic stop, Grant never backed down from a challenge. Grant was a grain farmer for over 45 years and was most at peace when surrounded by wide open prairie skies.

He was extremely passionate about his family, farming, his Church, and his community. Grant will be fondly remembered for his quirky sense of humour, and his absolute dedication to his four children; Jacqui (Mike), Ria (Justin), Lexa (Terry) and Tom (Brooke). Grant was never happier than when he had all of his children together, so that he could entertain them with ridiculous stories and goofy jokes. Grant is survived by his loving, supportive spouse Betty Hamre, his four children, his three grandchildren Everett, Sebastian and Jameson, his sisters Diana Deyenberg and Dorraine Hansen, and his many nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held by invitation only, on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grant’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca/en/donate Arrangements in care of Ashley Knash – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.

Hope

1st Sunday of Advent • Isaiah 60: 2-3

For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Let us pray: Lord God, we light this candle to thank you for your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ who is the light of the world. We who have sat in darkness have seen a great light, the light of Jesus Christ, our salvation. We give you thanks and praise in Jesus’ name, because he lives and reigns with you in your glory and in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Second Sunday in Advent • December 6th

Love

2nd Sunday of Advent • Mark 1:4

John the Baptist appeared baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sin.

Let us pray: Lord God, we light this candle to thank you for your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is the way. We who are like sheep have gone astray have found the way to you through Jesus Christ. We give you thanks and praise in Jesus' name, because he lives and reigns with you in glory, and in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Third Sunday in Advent • December 13th

Joy

3rd Sunday of Advent • Isaiah 35: 10

And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Let us pray: Lord God, we light this candle to thank you for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Who brings us great joy. We who have walked in the shadow of the valley of death have found life in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We give you thanks and praise in Jesus' name, because he lives and reigns with you in glory and in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Fourth Sunday in Advent • December 20th

Peace

4th Sunday of Advent • Isaiah 9: 6-7

For to us a child is born; a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Let us pray: Lord God, we light this candle to thank you for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is the Prince of Peace. We who live in discord and strife have found peace in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We give you thanks and praise in Jesus' name, because he lives and reigns with you in your glory, and in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Final Advent Candle • December 24th

Christmas Eve

 Luke 1: 68-79

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us --   To show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,  the oath he swore to our father Abraham:  to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.
