St. Paul hosted the marriage of Matthew Hoffman and Rianne Auckland on June 23, 2018. Pastor Peter Walker was officiand. The reception followed at the Eatonia Community Hall.

On June 10th, 28 quilts were blessed. 5 of them were selected for a display at the upcoming anniversary, and the other 23 are packed up and will be sent to Canadian Lutheran World Relief in Winnipeg via Home Hardware in Saskatoon. Eventually they will be sent to an African country. A special thanks to all who were so selfless in the quilting project.

Anita and Clint Hoffman welcomed the arrival of their son, Oliver Albert, on April 12, 2018.

On Sunday, April 1st, St. Paul was host to a confirmation performed by Pastor Peter. Rianne Auckland, who will be married to Matthew Hoffman on June 23rd at this church, had her adult confirmation. Congratulations Rianne, and welcome to St. Paul

Carl Miller celebrated his 100th birthday on Nov 8th and was feted at an afternoon function at the EOL in Eatonia where several of his friends stopped by for birthday cake.

Another group joined Carl for dinner At the Eatonia Family Restaurant to honor him on this special birthday. Earlier in the day Carl attended the Remembrance Day Services at Eaton School where the entire gathering sang a rousing Happy Birthday to him.

It was quite a day for Carl and he said one that he will never forget.

 

St. Paul has received this lovely poster from Veronica Longmuir. She and her husband Don are stalwart members of our congregation, and always ready to help where needed.

"Thank you for all your prayers as I go through this health challenge. We really do appreciate your concerns. It is time to pay it forward."

 On Saturday, September 23rd, St. Paul hosted the wedding of Lisa-Marie Hilts to Jaron Seitz, Rev. Robert Bartell officiating.

VICTORIA WORMSBECKER passed away July 17, 2017 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan with family members by her side. Vicki was born January 14, 1926 in Daverda Dabrucha, Romainia to Christian and Catherine Nagel. The family immigrated to Canada in 1930 when she was four years old with her two older brothers, Carl and John. They lived eight miles north of Eatonia, where brothers Ed and Chris were born.

Vicki worked at the Red and White store in Eatonia where she met Oscar Becker. They married in 1946 and were blessed with 3 children, Bob, Janett and Duane. Oscar passed away in 1955. Vicki continued working and had many interests. One of these were the Ladies Aces ball team where she met up with Scotchy (Otto) Wormsbecker. They married in 1960 and had a great life together. Curling, gardening, travelling, fishing and camping were some of their favorite pastimes. They enjoyed many trips with all the grandchildren to Disneyland. Vicki loved St. Paul Lutheran Church and volunteered much of her time teaching Confirmation, Sunday School, ELW and making quilts for foreign missions. She was happiest while quilting, playing cards, visiting and cooking for family and friends.

Vicki leaves to mourn her passing, children Bob (Jane) Becker, Janett Nagy, and Duane (Lynne) Becker; grandchildren Michael (Jeannine) Nagy, Lana (Neil) Day, Darren Nagy, Cheryl Becker, Curtis (Lisa) Becker, Nancy (Rob) Trumper, Jennifer (Alan) Brown; great grandchildren, Damon, Devin, Ryan, Caysen, Keirstin and Regin Nagy, Bailey (Adam) Hadland and Ashley Nagy, Emma and Tori Day, Robbie and Liam Trumper, and Adam, Alex, Brendan and Owen Becker; great-great grandchildren; Charlie and Harlow Nagy and Deacon Hadland.

She will be missed. Rest in peace, Mom.

• When a church has served the community for almost 100 years, there are a great many "feel good" stories that come to light. A recent tour of St. Paul was such an event. Lana and Neil Day along with their two daughters Emma and Tori were visiting the church accompanied by Bob Becker, the uncle of the girls. All are residents of Alberta. Uncle Bob pointed out that the baptismal font had been donated to St. Paul in 1955 by the great grandparents of the girls. He added that both girls had been baptized there. Church records showed these services took place on Oct 14, 2001 for Emma Jane (born on June 2, 2001), and for Tori Lynne on December 19, 2004 (born on July 22, 2004). It proved to be an exceptional experience for these two young ladies to see where such an important event in their lives occurred. We encourage tours such as these as we near our 100 years
  
  
• Our church continues to be active in the community. St Paul Lutheran is responsible for the service held the first Wednesday of every month at the seniors' home. We are ably represnted by Shirley Young, Joy Assmus, and Doreen Bennett.
  
  
• Rev. Kendra Diehl from Minnesota took time out of her busy schedule to visit St. Paul when she was in this area. She has taught and ministered throughout North America for over 25 years. She now serves as the Director of Spiritual and Character Formation at Masters Institute Seminary in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, she holds a Masters degree in Divinity from Masters. Kendra is currently working towards a Doctorate in Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary. She was on her way back home to Minnesota from Alberta when she dropped in for a quick visit. She was gracious in her praise for our church and prayed that we continue to strive for growth.
