GRANT SPECHT
August 4 1951 - August 5 2020

Grant Wayne Specht, aged 69, of Eatonia, SK, passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2020, after a long struggle with lung cancer. Grant passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Grant was born in 1951 in Eatonia, SK, to his father Jacob Specht and his mother Emelia (Martin) Specht. He graduated from Eatonia School and later attended the University of Saskatchewan where he studied anthropology.

Grant lived in Calgary, AB, for several years where he worked as a car salesman. While he would soon return to Eatonia to work on the family farm, his time as a salesman would initiate a life-long love of haggling the price down to the last cent. Whether he was up against a local car salesman, a gritty hail adjuster, or a RCMP member during a traffic stop, Grant never backed down from a challenge. Grant was a grain farmer for over 45 years and was most at peace when surrounded by wide open prairie skies.

He was extremely passionate about his family, farming, his Church, and his community. Grant will be fondly remembered for his quirky sense of humour, and his absolute dedication to his four children; Jacqui (Mike), Ria (Justin), Lexa (Terry) and Tom (Brooke). Grant was never happier than when he had all of his children together, so that he could entertain them with ridiculous stories and goofy jokes. Grant is survived by his loving, supportive spouse Betty Hamre, his four children, his three grandchildren Everett, Sebastian and Jameson, his sisters Diana Deyenberg and Dorraine Hansen, and his many nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held by invitation only, on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grant’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca/en/donate Arrangements in care of Ashley Knash – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
